Garage floor and apron gaps
When the apron drops but the garage floor does not, a ledge forms at the door. Lifting the apron back toward the garage slab removes the bump and helps keep water from running into the garage.
Polyfoam Concrete Lifting · Cass County
Peculiar sits along I-49 just south of Raymore, and many of its homes were built as Kansas City growth pushed south into Cass County. Metro Wide lifts settled driveways, walks, patios, and garage floors with polyurethane foam, usually without tearing anything out.
Concrete Leveling Near You
A lot of the concrete we see in Peculiar is not old. Driveways and patios on homes from the last couple of decades can settle just as noticeably as slabs from the 1960s, and the cause is usually what lies underneath them rather than the concrete itself. Alongside the newer subdivisions, Peculiar still has older homes near the original town and plenty of rural properties with long gravel or concrete drives, detached garages, and shop buildings. Each of those property types settles for slightly different reasons.
If you are noticing a gap where the driveway meets the garage floor, a patio that holds water against the back wall, or a front walk with a lip at one joint, those are typical leveling projects. We start with photos you text us, look at how far each section has moved, and let you know whether lifting is a good fit. On the job, we drill small ports, inject foam that expands beneath the slab, and raise it in controlled steps. The concrete stays in place and the patches are small.

Peculiar sits roughly 27 miles south of downtown Kansas City, well inside Metro Wide’s 75-mile coverage radius. Scheduling depends on the address and the size of the project, and a remote quote from your photos lets us plan the trip before we arrive.
Local Conditions
Newer neighborhoods around Peculiar were built by grading farmland into lots. Soil gets cut from high spots and pushed into low ones, and the trenches around foundations are backfilled after the walls go up. That loose fill compresses gradually under its own weight and under the slabs poured on top of it. The garage apron, the front walk where it meets the stoop, and patios along the back of the house are the usual places it shows up. Corner lots and homes with walkout basements often have deeper backfill on one side.
The native ground in this part of Cass County is clay-heavy, which brings its own seasonal movement. Wet springs saturate the soil and dry summers shrink it, and the freeze–thaw cycles of a Missouri winter widen any joint that lets water through. Open, fairly flat terrain also means runoff from roofs and driveways does not always drain away quickly. Where water ponds along a slab edge, it softens the soil and carries fines away. Lifting the slab fills those voids, and better drainage keeps them from forming again.

Common Peculiar Projects
Every slab is different, so we start with what is happening at your property. These are the repairs Peculiar property owners ask us about most.
When the apron drops but the garage floor does not, a ledge forms at the door. Lifting the apron back toward the garage slab removes the bump and helps keep water from running into the garage.
Patios poured over fill near the foundation often tip toward the house within a few years. We raise the low edge to restore drainage away from the home where the slab and surrounding grade allow it.
A walk that has dropped where it meets the stoop creates a step that is easy to miss. Lifting it smooths the path to the door and can close the gap where water was getting under the stoop.
Rural properties around Peculiar often have a detached garage or shop slab that has settled at one corner. Foam lifting can level the low area so doors close properly and equipment sits flat. It also helps water drain out of the doorway instead of collecting there.

We look at the settlement, slab condition, and drainage, and follow up with a quote or questions.
On the day of the repair we drill small access holes at planned points across the settled slab.
Expanding polyurethane fills the voids and raises the concrete gradually while we watch the transitions.
Ports are patched, the area is cleaned, and the surface can usually be used again soon after.

Peculiar Concrete Leveling FAQ
It usually comes down to fill soil. When lots are graded and foundations are backfilled, that soil keeps settling for years after the concrete is poured. The garage apron and front walk are the most common trouble spots. The concrete itself is often fine. If the slab is intact, foam lifting fills the voids beneath it and raises it back into better alignment.
Polyurethane foam cures much faster than new concrete, which is one of its biggest advantages over replacement. There is no waiting for a fresh pour to gain strength. We will tell you on the day of the job when it is fine to drive and park on the lifted area again, based on the work that was done.
Not always. Text a wide photo of the whole slab, close-ups of the low joints, a tape measure showing the height difference, and your address. We review the details and follow up with a quote or a few questions. An initial onsite visit is not always needed, which saves you time.
No. Lifting changes the position and support of the slab, but existing cracks stay visible. Raising the sections on either side can bring a crack back into alignment, and crack and joint sealing is available as a separate step to help keep water out.
Both methods lift concrete by filling the space underneath it. Polyurethane uses smaller holes, weighs far less than a cement slurry, cures quickly, and resists washing out. See our polyurethane vs. mudjacking comparison for a full breakdown.
