Kansas City, Kansas has some of the oldest neighborhoods in the metro, from Strawberry Hill and Rosedale to newer homes out west near Piper. Metro Wide lifts settled driveways, walks, steps, patios, and commercial slabs with polyurethane foam injected through small ports.
Kansas City, Kansas covers a lot of ground, and its housing reflects more than a century of growth. Near the rivers, older neighborhoods like Strawberry Hill, Argentine, Armourdale, and Rosedale have homes on narrow lots with steps, walks, and driveways that have settled for decades. Farther west, Turner, Piper, and the area around Village West include newer subdivisions with wide driveways and patios. Commercial and industrial properties throughout Wyandotte County add warehouses, loading areas, and parking lots. Each area has its own soil, terrain, and construction history.
In older parts of town, we often see front walks with steps that have pulled away from the house or sunk at the bottom, and driveways that pitch water toward a garage. In newer areas, it is garage aprons and patios settling over backfill. Polyurethane foam leveling lifts those slabs in place without bringing in a breaker or concrete truck, which matters on tight urban lots with limited access. If a slab is too broken to save, we will say so and explain the options. The ports are small and patched afterward.

Local Conditions
Why concrete settles in Kansas City.
Kansas City, Kansas sits where the Kansas River meets the Missouri River, and its terrain changes quickly from river bottoms to steep loess bluffs. Neighborhoods on the bluffs deal with silty loess that holds up when dry but erodes or compacts when water flows through it. On hillside lots, water moving downhill under walks and driveways can carry soil away and leave voids. Steep streets in older neighborhoods often make this even more noticeable.
Areas closer to the rivers sit on alluvial soils, layers of silt, sand, and clay laid down by floods. Those soils can settle unevenly and respond to changes in groundwater. Many older homes in Wyandotte County have concrete poured decades ago on minimal base, and freeze–thaw cycles, tree roots, and old drain lines have worked on it for a long time. In western neighborhoods, graded fill under newer driveways and patios is the bigger factor. We look at slope and drainage closely at every property. Downspouts that empty right next to slabs are one of the most common triggers we see, regardless of neighborhood.
Signs your slab has lost support
A lip or step-up at a driveway, sidewalk, or garage joint
A patio or walk that tips toward the house
Gaps opening between steps, stoops, and the foundation
Water pooling on a slab or flowing toward the home
Hollow sounds or visible washout along a slab edge
Common Kansas City Projects
The concrete we lift most often in Kansas City.
Every slab is different, so we start with what is happening at your property. These are the repairs Kansas City property owners ask us about most.
Steps and walks on older homes
Older homes on hillside lots often have front steps and walks that have separated or sunk. Lifting the low sections can close gaps and reduce trip points while keeping the original concrete. Broken steps may need separate repairs.
Driveways on tight urban lots
Narrow lots make replacement difficult. Foam leveling uses small ports and hoses, so we can lift settled driveway panels without heavy equipment in tight spaces. That also means less disruption for neighbors on narrow streets and alleys.
Newer garage aprons in western KCK
Homes in Piper and other western neighborhoods often have aprons settling over foundation backfill. Raising the apron removes the ledge at the garage door. It also helps keep water and snowmelt from running into the garage.
Warehouse and commercial slabs
Industrial and commercial properties use foam leveling to correct sunken walkways, entry slabs, and some floor areas with less downtime than replacement. We will ask about the loads the slab carries before recommending lifting. Heavy, broken areas may need replacement.

Can you level the public sidewalk in front of my house in KCK?
We can lift sidewalk sections, but before scheduling, check with the Unified Government about who is responsible for the walk in front of your property and whether any permits are needed. Once you know you can proceed, send photos of the settled sections, and we can quote the work remotely.
My house in Strawberry Hill is old. Is the concrete worth saving?
Often it is. Older concrete can be thick and well made even after decades of settling. If the sections are still mostly in one piece, foam lifting can raise them and fill the voids beneath. If a section is crumbling or broken into small pieces, we will tell you replacement makes more sense. Cracks will still be visible after lifting.
Do you work on commercial and industrial properties in Wyandotte County?
Yes. We handle commercial leveling, including walkways, entries, loading areas, and some floor slabs. Send photos, a note about the loads the slab carries, and any scheduling constraints. We can work out a plan that limits disruption to your operations. Many commercial projects can be quoted from photos first. That saves a trip for both of us.
Will concrete leveling get rid of the cracks?
No. Lifting changes the position and support of the slab, but existing cracks stay visible. Raising the sections on either side can bring a crack back into alignment, and crack and joint sealing is available as a separate step to help keep water out.
Is polyurethane foam better than mudjacking?
Both methods lift concrete by filling the space underneath it. Polyurethane uses smaller holes, weighs far less than a cement slurry, cures quickly, and resists washing out. See our polyurethane vs. mudjacking comparison for a full breakdown.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Residential concrete lifting from Metro Wide is backed by a 2-year warranty. We will explain what is covered for your project when we provide the quote.
